As much as I think the blog posts themselves merit your attention, the music is the best reason to stop by every week. Abraham has a solid, literate flow, easily mixing wit and insightful commentary over homemade beats. I lost track of the number of times he made me laugh, usually with word play like this couplet from “Own Beats”:

“You don’t even make your own beats and I do it all myself
You don’t even do your own D.I.Y., You’re D.I.Somebody else”

Speaking of beats, Abraham’s are a pleasant change from the usual stale drum and bass combination – there’s layers of synths that give tracks a deep and dynamic feel. The style ranges from experimental to funky, depending, one guesses, on Abraham’s mood that week. A particular favorite of mine is “Body,” with its soulful organ, bluesy guitar licks, and delivery that reminds me of Krayzie Bone with its fast, confident flow. Don’t let me sway you though, dig into the archives and find your own favorites – there’s plenty there and all are worth a spin.
