Surfing In Shanghai

Sorry, we have no blurb today. Please proceed directly to the music below. Thank you.

I’m a little late in reporting this, but InSound has their January MixTape up for free download. As usual it’s hit and miss (mostly hit this month), but I always find a few songs that make the download time well worth it. I was particularly fond of the Oh No Ono (pictured above) track.

I love the relaxed loping feel of this Boomsnake song. It’s like a pleasant Sunday walk through a Tim Burton landscape. And not cutesy Willy Wonka landscapes – slightly dark and askew Sweeney Todd streets. It’s disjointed and a bit macabre, but it works.

Hancock Basement is a little light and a lot fun. I actually had trouble picking a photo of these guys because practically every one I saw was so delightful. I’m definitely slotting these guys high on my list of “People To Be Stuck With On A Long Car Ride.” In the meantime, check out the fabulous drums on “We Started Something.”
